About LeaveTransfer.org
LeaveTransfer.org is a public platform that helps U.S. federal employees donate annual leave hours to colleagues facing a medical or family emergency — a campaign-based platform where colleagues rally to donate annual leave hours instead of money.
The federal government already has a program for this: the Voluntary Leave Transfer Program (VLTP). It lets employees donate accrued annual leave to a coworker who has exhausted their own paid time due to a medical emergency. The problem is that few people know it exists, and finding someone to help is hard. We make those campaigns visible so help can find the people who need it.
How it works
- A federal employee in crisis — or a colleague or union leader on their behalf — starts a campaign.
- Other federal employees discover the campaign and pledge annual leave hours, along with a message of support.
- Each donor completes the donation through their own agency's VLTP using the appropriate OPM form. Their agency processes the transfer.
Who runs this
LeaveTransfer.org is an independent, privately owned platform built to make the VLTP easier to use. We are not a government website. We never handle leave balances or process transfers — those always happen through your agency's official HR and timekeeping channels.
